Ajay Devgn and Venkatesh Daggubati to headline Hindi and Telugu remake of Ayothi: Report

Hindi remakes of popular South Indian films have now become a trend. In the first three months of 2023, Hindi cinema has already released two remakes, Shehzada and Selfiee, and is all set to make the third addition to the list with the Ajay Devgn starrer Bholaa. Amid all this, a Tamil film, Ayothi starring M. Sasikumar, Preethi Asrani, Yashpal Sharma, and Pugazh, is making huge waves at the box office. While it’s been hardly two weeks since the film was released, the reports of its Hindi and Telugu remakes are already making rounds on the internet. It is said that Ajay Devgn will be headlining the Hindi remake while Venkatesh Daggubati will lead the Telugu one. If a report by Free Press Journal is something to go by, then Tamil blockbuster Ayothi will be titled Ayodhya for its Hindi and Telugu remakes with Ajay Devgn and Venkatesh Daggubati roped in for its two versions respectively. The portal quoted a source saying, “Ayothi is all set to be remade in Hindi with Ajay and with Venky Mama in Telugu. It seems like the Drishyam 2 style is being repeated as Ajay was seen in its Hindi version and Venky Mama was seen in its Telugu version,” while adding that the remakes in Hindi and Telugu will go on floors probably by June 2023. The source continued and added, “The title of Ayothi remake in Hindi and Telugu will be the same… Ayodhya. The backdrop of the story is about the love of religion, yet it has loads of melodramatic scenes.” The source concluded by saying, “The director for the Hindi version of Ayodhya is not yet finalised.” However, it is worth mentioning here that neither the makers of Ayothi nor the above-mentioned celebs have confirmed the news, as of now.
